I love summertime with family get togethers, barbeques, and night time star gazing around the fire pit. Growing up, my favorite activity was roasting marshmallows on the grill over the coals before they cooled down. Sometimes mom would even bring out chocolate and graham crackers for us to make s’mores. When I saw this recipe from Betty Crocker for Warm Toasted Marshmallow S'mores Bars, I knew my childhood favorite could be eaten all year round.
Warm Toasted Marshmallow S’mores Bars
Ingredients:
1 pouch Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 cup butter or margarine, melted
3 cups milk chocolate chips
4 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows
Directions:
Heat oven to 375 degrees.
In large bowl stir together cookie mix and crumbs.
Stir in melted butter until soft dough forms.
Press into ungreased 13" x 9" pan.
Bake 18 to 20 minutes or until set.
Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over crust.
Let stand 3 - 5 minutes or until chocolate begins to melt.
Spread chocolate evenly over crust.
Set oven to broil.
Sprinkle marshmallows over melted chocolate.
Broil with top 5-6 inches from heat 20 to 30 seconds or until marshmallows are toasted. ( Watch closely as marshmallows will brown quickly).
Cool 10 minutes and cut into bars. Serve warm.
Store any remaining bars in tightly covered container.
Mmmm…yum!
