Shout Out to SplitcoastStampers

Are you just starting out papercrafting? Find yourself in a papercrafting rut? Or just need some ideas for all those supplies you've been hording? Check out SplitcoastStampers resources section of their website. They have a few dozen ideas such as creating a puffy box, 3x3 note card box, and accordian cards.

After following the tutorial for Post It Note Holders I was able to complete a holder along with a flower pen as a thank you for someone special.

Card for Teacher

My talented sister Sandy did it again. She took a tutorial on making tri-shutter cards and decided to make a card for Catie's teacher. Check out the card and how she wrapped it up for Catie to give to her teacher on the last day of school.

I think she did a super job! If you think so too, send her some love by leaving a comment.

Favorite Layouts

I was going through my completed layouts that need to go in an album and came across a few of my favorites that I thought I would share.

The above layout was completed for 7 embellishment challenge. It is hard to see, but some of the flowers on the left side have been replaced with heart buttons.

The above layout was completed for a reminisce challenge. We had to take a picture of something from our past that meant something to us. I took a picture of my Annie doll that I got for my 5th birthday. I journaled about how special she is to me.

The above layout was for a challenge that required the picture to be in black & white and one area highlighted with ink.

This last layout was a scraplift that I did for a scraplift challenge. I used both doodling and rub- ons for the flourishes

Waterfall Card

Today I learned how to make a waterfall card and decided to use the leftover scraps from the Raspberry Suite Color Challenge I did earlier in the week. I attached things a little crooked and forgot to ink the edges of the paper before I pasted it to the card, but now I have a sample card to reference when creating others.

Supply List:

Organize on the Cheap!

A friend and new scrapbooker asked me how I could I afford storage for all of my crafting supplies. I told her the magical secret; shop at dollar stores, thrifts stores, garage sales, and clearance areas of Target & Walmart.

Why spend $8 for the fancy bottles to hold beads, brads, or flowers when you can spend $1 for salt & pepper shakers from the Dollar General that will do the same thing.

You can also save frappicino bottles from Starbucks, decorate them, and store buttons, brads, etc. I enjoy salsa and save the Pace jars to use as storage or decorate later for fun gifts.

Look at things in a different way. I went to the thrift store and found a Mary Kay demonstrator’s cosmetic display for $2 and turned it into a painting caddy.

In my pantry, I found a cupcake rack that was never used. I purchased a few votive candle holders from the dollar store and turned it into a caddy that sits on my crafting table and holds eyelets, brads, and other small objects that I am working with.
Take out your Tupperware chip/veggie divider that never gets used and turn it into a supply caddy that you can leave on your crafting station.
Leah Fung had pictures posted of her scrapbooking room and for under $20, I was able to copy her wall storage. All it took was a pegboard from the hardware store ($4), a can of spray paint ($2), peg hooks ($8), tiny buckets from Target’s dollar spot (on sale for a quarter), and buckets from Michaels (used 40% off coupons).

Wait until the gardening season is over and pick up a bunch of different sized flower pots. Leave them as is or spray paint them. They are great for holding pens, scissors, adhensives, and ribbon.
If you have any organization tips, tricks, or storage ideas leave a comment or e-mail me a picture so that I can include it on the blog.

Virtual Crop

Looking for something to do this Saturday. Scrappy Jo's is having an online/virtual crop. Here is the info if you want to join in on the fun.

WHEN Saturday, June 6th

9-1 Pacific
10-2 Mountain
11-3 Central
12-4 Eastern

You can join/leave at anytime, do as much or as little as you want, etc. No pressure at all! On online crop is just that a crop held online. It is hosted by the Creative Team members and includes several activities such as: challenges, games, classes, prizes, socializing with other members and lots of fun. Most every activity can be completed using your basic supplies. In the event that particular items are required for any activity, Scrappy Jo's will post a supply list in advance so that you may be prepared. It's a great non-competitive way to get some much needed scrapping done and hopefully win some prizes at the same time!
