National S’mores Day

In honor of National S’mores Day, I bring you two terrific recipes to try out with the kids and a few paper crafting lines to scrapbook your campfire memories.

Golden Grahams S'mores Bars (from Cooks.com)

Ingredients:

3/4 cup light corn syrup
3 tbsp butter
1 package (2 cups) chocolate chips
3 cups mini marshmallows
1 tsp vanilla
1 box Golden Grahams cereal

Directions:
  1. Grease a 13 x 9 inch pan and set aside.
  2. Over medium heat, heat syrup, butter, and chocolate chips, stirring constantly until chocolate chips are melted. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  3. Place cereal in a large bowl. Pour chocolate mixture over cereal and mix until completely coated. Fold in marshmallows, 1 cup at a time.
  4. Press into pan and let sit 1 hour (refrigerate if desired).

  2. In a large resealable bag (or in a food processor), smash graham crackers until finely ground.
  3. Stir in melted butter and salt. Press into a 13×9 pan.
  4. Bake for 5 minutes.  Remove from oven.

oh, I love smores. I'm gonna have to try that second receipe. I have a gadget to make smores in the microwave, no smoke taste. :)

Debbi, the first recipe was one we (mom, sister, and me) made as kids. I have to admit that the second recipe is yummy and very addicting. Make a batch and give most of it away otherwise you will find yourself taking a sliver here and a sliver there all day long.

Thanks!
